School Meals
School Meals
TiLA (Trust in Learning Academies) operates the kitchens within its schools. Our catering team plan the school lunch options for each term ensuring that they are nutritious, tasty and provide a balanced and healthy diet with a varied choice.
Children can choose from either:
- A hot meal (halal option available)
- A vegetarian hot meal
- A jacket potato filled with either beans, cheese or tuna
- A wrap filled with either ham, cheese or tuna
Please click here for current lunch menu.
School meals cost £2.65 a day which is payable in advance or on the day via the MCAS app.
Universal Infant Free School Meals (UIFSM)
Universal Infant Free School Meals (UIFSM) provides funding for all government-funded schools to offer free school meals to pupils in reception, year 1 and year 2. These children are allocated a daily free school meal, regardless of household income and regardless of their background.
Pupils in nursery and reception also receive a fruit snack and carton of milk each day.
Awarded Free School Meals (FSM)
UIFSM should not be confused with Awarded Free School Meals (FSM) which are based on income. If you think you may be entitled to Awarded Free School Meals please apply for them, even if you do not intend to use them, as the number of registered Awarded Free School Meals brings in extra financial support for the school.
Your child may be entitled for awarded FSM if you claim:
- Income Support
- Job Seekers Allowance (Income Based)
- Child Tax Credit, but are not entitled to Working Tax Credit and your annual income (as assessed by the Inland Revenue) does not exceed £16,190
- Support under part VI of the Immigration & Asylum Act 1999
- You are a guardian (caring for a child) and you receive Pension Credit (under 'Guarantee Credit Element')
Please see the school office who can help you complete an application form. Alternatively, click here to complete the form online.
Packed Lunches
Little Mead Primary Academy has a healthy eating policy. We ask that children who bring packed lunches should aim to include all food groups in their lunchbox as school meals do. We are grateful for your support in helping your child to be healthy, active and happy!
Allergies, Intolerance and Texture Modified Diet
TiLA, believes in treating all pupils equally whatever their diet, catering for all pupils with allergies, intolerance and special dietary requirements, so they can enjoy suitable school meals with their friends.
If a child has an allergy or intolerance, or requires a texture modified diet, the parent/carer is able to request an 'Allergies, Intolerance and Texture Modified Diet Referral Form' from the school office. This form must be supported by appropriate medical information from a regulated healthcare professional and returned to the TiLA Central Catering Team, via the school office.
For safety, we are unable to provide a child with a school meal until the parent/carer and the school kitchen have received the relevant information from the TiLA Central Catering Team. This can take up to 4 weeks for creating bespoke menus.
Please note: TiLA, do not require a form for religious/cultural preferences, these can be catered for by the school; please speak to the school office.
Our Allergies and Intolerance process does not cater for likes and dislikes.
Several of our children have nut allergies so can you please ensure that snacks and packed lunches do not contain any nuts or nut products.
